Ontario's Best Latte Artists

In any industry it is important to continue to learn and grow. For all those Baristas or lovers of coffee and art, I hope to see you at the 1st Ontario Latte Art Competition where.  And yes if it looks better it will probably taste better. This event will give you an opportunity to see what you can learn and even teach your staff.  Come see the art of coffee and how it can change your business.

Developed by Mark Krause of Espresso Post in Collingwood (2006 Eastern Region Barista Champion) and Michael Riesberry of Zuccarini Importing in Toronto (Certified CNBC Judge), Ontario’s best Baristas will be competing for the title of Latte Art Champion. The competition will be open to any currently employed qualified Baristas.

Krause, now ranked 4^th best Barista in Canada, puts it this way,  "We are literally taking the competition to the streets and showcasing how beautiful a simple latte can be on many levels: visual, tactile and taste. It’s a chance to watch - right before your eyes - the moment where a professional craft becomes an art form."

This unique event will be held at Café Journo, 327 King St. West, Toronto, on Saturday May 26, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. It is open to the public and there is no charge to attend. The competitor’s registration deadline is May 1^st and we are also looking for volunteers. Contact Michael about details and qualifications.

"Champions return to Toronto"

Zuccarini Importing was once again proud to sponsor the Canadian Regional Barista Championship. It was held on Friday June 2nd, 2006 at the trendy Gladstone Hotel on Queen Street, and was followed by a complimentary industry party and awards ceremony. .
We supplied our beautiful Elektra espresso machines for the competition, and some great prizes to the participants.

"Congratulations Lisa!"

Zuccarini Importing is proud to announce that our very own Lisa Monteleone came in second place in the Regional Barista Championship in February, 2005.

Although she was up against stiff competition from cafe owners and baristas from cafes all around Ontario, Lisa, our office manager who has never worked in cafe, managed to take home a plaque for 1st Runner Up, and now qualifies to enter the upcoming National Barista Championship, to be held in Toronto in June.

Congratulations as well to one of Zuccarini's customers, Mark Krause of Espresso Post in Collingwood, who took third place.
