Winning Application:
"My name is Patrick Zappia and I work with my parents and younger brother in our restaurant, Via Oliveto, located in the heart of the Toronto Annex - on Bloor Street West, between Spadina Ave. and Bathurst Street. My brother, Adriano and I would be forever indebted to you if you choose our parent's restaurant for the makeover.
The reason why is that my brother and I have been slowly taking over the family business but my parents, for the past few years, have been more inclined to throw in the towel than to help us make it work. They simply feel that it will take more then what we have, to bring it back to what it once was, and as a result they don't feel inspired any more.
I am 28 and my brother is 26. We were just 12 and 10 years old when my parents first opened. We grew up at Via Oliveto, so for us it is more than a restaurant it is our home. I can't remember a Christmas or holiday that wasn't spent there with all of our family, friends and relatives.
Please help us. We need to show our parents that we can transform our home and compete with the more upscale looking restaurants on the street. With your help we will know who to trust and where to start. Please help my brother and I to make our dream come true - saving our home and sustaining our future.
After 16 long years of working our home and business we hope to show you the magic that is Via Oliveto."

"St. Clare's Multifaith Housing Society is a non-profit charitable organization that provides affordable housing to the most vulnerable members of our society. We are looking to expand the scope of our work by engaging in this new social venture opportunity.
With this project we will provide employment opportunities, a sense of community and nutritious, affordable foods. What we are attempting to do is new and innovative. And we want to do it well; with energy and verve so that we have a warm and inviting environment to offer our residents and our surrounding community. We wish all the contestants luck!!"
